Genius Hour Blog Post 5 - Final Blog Post
WOW! The weeks have absolutely flown by, but it is time for me to make my final blog post and conclude this Genius Hour research project!! I'd like to say thank you for everyone who stopped by to read my blog and see how this Genius Hour project on mindful meditation was going and I'd like to share an even BIGGER THANK YOU to everyone who helped me along the way!
I finally was able to complete a fully self-guided meditation session which was one of my goals at the start of this Genius Hour project! The self-guided session was difficult and I found that I became distracted and lost focus much more frequently than during guided meditation. So in sum, I am extremely pleased to have completed self-guided meditation and tried a different form of meditation, but I have concluded that guided meditation is much more effective and successful in my case.
I have been taking anecdotes on my stress levels and mood throughout my Genius Hour journey as I have been describing in my blog updates here. Overall, I have been very pleased with the progress I have made. As noted, after meditating I feel more at ease, relaxed, and in control. I am very pleased to state that my stress levels are lower since I started Genius Hour because I can better regulate how I am feeling through the mindful meditation and I am able to transfer some things I learned such as breathing techniques to everyday life. I would say that my Genius Hour project has been a huge success.
From here my next steps are to stay committed to meditating each day so that I can keep up with it and ensure it remains an impactful part of my life. I have had positive experiences with mindfulness through this project and I will try to make sure that I continue meditating with regularity. I learned a lot about mindfulness, meditation, and most importantly, myself through Genius Hour. I learned how valuable all mindfulness activities are for affecting stress and regulating emotions. This journey taught me about the origins of meditation and many different forms. Lastly, I learned a great deal about myself, my emotions, and my spirit. Mindful meditation has allowed me to look inwards and evaluate how I react to situations.
I am so pleased that I chose mindful meditation for my Genius Hour project and after six weeks I found that meditating can have a positive influence on my mood and levels of stress. Thank you so much for following along this journey with me!

ReplyDeleteI am so glad that you enjoyed your Genius Hour project. I think mindfulness and meditation are a great way to better get to know oneself and become more in-tuned with the world around us.
It is evident that meditation has helped you become a more relaxed and focused individual. I really enjoyed how you explored both self-guided and guided meditation, I think this demonstrates your ability to reflect and take directions.
If I can make one suggestion it would be that you continue mediate to ensure that you can continue to grow on a personal level and bring meditation into your classroom for your future students.

Mr. Leone I like how you include both pictures of a male and a female in your post, additionally I liked how engaging your trailer was. I hope you will bring meditation to your students in your future classrooms, and that the students find it useful, rather then a joke
